Our Song

 by Lauren Runow

Amazon

This was a blind date book and I'm so happy to discover a new-to-me author that I know I will enjoy when I find more of her books. This book had all the feels. I knew something had happened to send her back home with a different life, different look and I kept thinking... tell me the details. The author reveals all later when the time was right. He's a rock star, the image that doesn't fit in a conservative town. She's the pastor's daughter with a hidden tattoo. She's also the rock star's daughter's kindergarten teacher. I love there was a slow burn as they got to know each other. Could he bring her 'back to life', to follow her dreams and be the person she is meant to be? I loved this line: “Sometimes, that’s all you need in life—to have someone who will hold your hand through anything.” Such an entertaining story, I loved it. Oh yes, and signing up to the newsletter there is an epilogue, I loved to read what was happening next in their lives. #quirkyblinddatewithabook

After a devastating accident crushed my dreams, I ended up back in my hometown teaching kindergarten. I was trying to make the best of it. That is, until the world I had to leave behind, showed up in my classroom in the form of a five-year-old little girl. Her father living the exact life I almost had.

Adam Jacobson is known as the bad boy of rock. While he and his band tour the world, they leave a trail of mayhem. What no one knows is behind the music is a caring, straightedge man with a secret — a daughter who the world is about to discover.

When they move to my small town, their secret is blown. He needs my help to keep her out of the media, and with each exchange we grow closer. Only problem is I need to stay away from the memories he ignites, and the temptations he brings my way.

Secrets I’ve kept and thoughts of that fatal night come crashing back into my life. I have to wonder if it was more than fate that brought his little girl into my classroom.

Her Unbroken SEAL: A Navy SEAL Romance (Midnight Delta Book 11)

 Caitlyn O'Leary

Amazon

Such an emotional story, the horror of brain injury and the unknown in regards to recovery.
A mission with unexpected results leaves Clint in a coma and the love of his life Lydia worried out of her mind.
Some extra action through this story as repercussions of the mission affect one of his team mates.
It's a story that rips at the emotions leaving you exhausted. Great story and wonderful characters. You'll be praying for them to have a HEA.

What happens when the man you love is now a stranger?

Lydia Hildalgo has been engaged to Clint Archer for five years. He’d been the love of her life since he’d carried her on his back out of the Mexican jungle. She knew the risk of loving a Navy SEAL, and she’d been happy to take it.

After a harrowing mission, Clint wakes up with no memory of what happened, and a brain that doesn’t feel like his own, he doesn’t know what to do, or who to turn to.

When one of his teammates needs his brand of help, he can’t turn him down, but he doesn’t know if he’s the same man he once was. With his mood swings, can he be trusted to do the job? And what about Lydia? What happens when the man she loved with all her heart, is not who he once was? Is there any way that they can find a way back to one another and finally create the future of their dreams?

This is a stand-alone, but having read book two, Lydia and Clint’s first story in the Midnight Delta series, will enhance your enjoyment.

No Holding Back (The McKenzies of Ridge Trail Book 1)

 by Lori Foster

Amazon

I love a great start to a new series, it leaves me anticipating more to come. This story stands alone and I'll assume the next stories are the siblings.
These characters live in a place where their roads seem like the highway to hell for many women. A route for human trafficking. This family are vigilantes and find a like minded woman, all have personal reasons for their thoughts and actions. Star is a survivor and determined to help women but her resources are limited, combining forces they will be unstoppable.
Of course there is love and romance, she's so independent and prickly that he has met his match.
I couldn't put this story down, absolutely loved it.

Not needing him won’t stop her from wanting him…

Trucker Sterling (Star) Parson is no stranger to the challenges a woman faces, both in her industry and in life. But she can take care of herself. She’s never needed—or wanted—a man around...until she meets Cade McKenzie. The take-charge bar owner sets off all kinds of alarm bells for Sterling, but he also sets her heart racing.

Cade’s lived in Ridge Trail long enough to know trouble when he sees it, and the moment Sterling—Star—walks into his bar, he knows trouble’s come to call. Secrets run deep in the small town and Cade can tell Star’s got as many as he does, leaving him itching to uncover every last one. But finding common ground will mean trusting one another, further feeding an intense attraction that’s growing impossible to resist.

Clay (Lighthouse Security Investigations Book 8)

 by Maryann Jordan

Amazon

I really love this series and this one was as entertaining as the rest of them.

Clay is enchanted by this solo violinist Christina. A lover of music, he sees her several times in concert. Determined to meet her and get to know her he makes his presence know. His job and the secrecy it entails could make or break them.
She somehow got caught up in the middle of their latest investigation. Her life could be in danger! Will Clay save her in time?
Plenty of suspense, danger and romance...great story.

Relationships should be simple, right?

Clay watched his fellow Lighthouse Security Keepers fall for women while on missions. Growing up with chaos, the last thing he wanted was drama… or surprises.

The beautiful concert violinist was just what he hoped for. Smart, talented, and dedicated to the orchestra. And completely separate from his mission chasing drug smugglers.

But Christina had a secret… one that brings her right into the middle of his mission. And he’ll do whatever it takes to make sure she’s safe.
Lighthouse Security Investigations
The security and investigation company is filled with handpicked men and women from the SEALs, Rangers, Special Forces, Deltas, and Air Force Special Ops. All trained in CIA Special Operations, the Keepers were the best of the best and ready to take on any mission.

The Fighter (Barrett Boys Book 2)

 by Jordan Ford

Amazon

This one was emotionally exhausting...all the 'feels' I loved it.
The next Barrett boy to come home is Deeks. I enjoyed all the backstories that come through in these stories as well as the here and now. The thoughts and words from their Grandpa still in their minds.
Kena has gone through her own personal hell, on the cusp of womanhood her life is ripped out from under her as she becomes an orphan.
He's trapped in the world of illegal fighting and so much more. I was glued to my kindle as the final chapters galloped home. Would they make it out alive and have a future together? Just brilliant, I loved it.

He’ll do anything to save a young girl’s life. She’s a runaway who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Can a carjacking turn into a partnership that will redeem them both?

Deeks:
I may be an asshole, but I’d never intentionally hurt an innocent.
I had to steal her car, though.
To save someone I swore to protect.

I’ve screwed up enough times to turn my life into a wreck.
But I’m not failing on this one.
Maybe this chick can help me.
I don’t want to risk her life, but she’s smart and resourceful, and just might know how to keep us alive.

Kena Chan with her beautiful eyes and knock-out smile.
Grandpa would love her. He always told me to find a girl who was a thinker. “They’re worth their weight in gold, son. If anyone can get you out of a mess, it’s a woman who’s smarter than you are.”

I hope he’s right.
I hope that the Barrett in me can find the strength to fight this battle and get everyone to safety before it’s too late.

The Fighter is the second standalone book in a thrilling YA romance series. If you like high-octane drama, a smoking hot bad boy, fiery banter and sizzling kisses, then you’ll love Jordan Ford’s gripping novel.

SEAL's Angel (Special Forces: Operation Alpha) (Black Eagle Book 5)

by  Lynne St. James

Amazon

Phew, all the emotions...I spent the final chapters with a sore throat trying to hold back the tears. A second chance for this widowed woman to find love again. Could she deal with another partner in the military with the risk of loss again.
Dawn's brother Rafe and team member Jake race to the rescue when her son goes missing. She and Jake have been talking for some time and are falling in love. Can Rafe accept this? His boss and his sister.
Just as things are falling into place a mission goes wrong! Will they all survive and will they have a HEA?
I was so immersed in this story and the characters' lives, absolutely loved it.

Navy SEAL Jake Warner, leader of the Black Eagle team, has witnessed the worst of the world firsthand. After losing faith in everything but his teammates, he meets Dawn Randolph, and she is everything good he’s forgotten.

Shane (The Mavericks Book 12)

 by Dale Mayer

Amazon

Another action packed, suspenseful read in this fabulous series. Shane's mission is personal, his life long friend Shelly is involved in a hostage situation. There was so much more to this than they could believed.
Kidnapping, murder, double crossing agents and a pregnant woman to save. What an exciting tale of intrigue this all made, I couldn't put it down.
You'll be wanting Shane and Shelly to wake up and see what's under their noses...The pregnant lady to survive to have a HEA... and to learn more about Diesel.
Great book, wonderful characters, I loved it.

Her kidnappers demanded Shane arrive. Finding out his best friend was held as a pawn just pissed him off. Finding out rescuing her was a test made him seriously angry. He hates being used. These men mean business though, as Shane finds a body count too high for comfort.

Shelly knew Shane would come for her. No way he wouldn’t. She was lucky to have Shane there for her, especially when learning a second woman had been kidnapped and held for over six months. The simple rescue of Shelly turns into something more to find this second woman.

But is there one killer boss out there or two? As the pair try to secure their own freedom, it gets even murkier, until finding a way through is paramount. Otherwise no one gets a happy ending.
