Nothing Stays Buried: A completely addictive and absolutely gripping serial killer thriller (Detectives Kane and Alton Book 30)

 by D.K. Hood (Author)

My Review:

Before I even start about this fantastic story, I must say the cover looks so pretty on my kindle.
This series is never boring and I've read most of them now. Each story has a little more of Sheriff Jenna Alton's and Deputy David Kane's private life and a hint into their past.
This story has them investigating a cold case of a possible murder on their friend's ranch. When a body is discovered they have to wonder if there are more going back over a couple of decades.
Serial Killer Central is the unofficial motto to their town and surrounding forests and this story certainly didn't disappoint. My heart is still racing over the final chapters as more and more piece were put together.
I love that I never know who the criminal is until the author gets to that point. Fantastic story, I can't wait for the next story.

Fear grips her as she passes under the last streetlight on the remote highway. Seeing the familiar truck, she thinks she’s safe. But her scream is silenced by a gloved hand before her world goes black…

When
Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy David Kane investigate a cold case on a remote ranch in Black Rock Falls, what they uncover chills them to the bone. In a shallow grave lies the lifeless body of farm worker Maria Reyes. Jenna’s heart breaks as she sweeps aside the woman’s long dark hair to find purple bruising all over her face.

Interviewing workers at the ranch, Jenna senses hostility and feels eyes watching her. Every instinct screams that something very sinister is happening here and when news breaks that another young woman is missing, her pulse races once again. Jenna knows she’s running out of time to find the girl before she too ends up in a woodland grave.

Jenna and her team work night and day, ignoring the growing threat from the farm workers around them, and soon discover a link between the ranch and an unsolved case where two people were burned alive in a remote cabin. Could a twisted killer have been using this place as a hunting ground for over a decade?

When a call comes in about suspicious activity at an off-the-grid hut in the nearby forest, Jenna knows this is the breakthrough they need. Scrambling her team, she prays that she can catch this ruthless killer before he takes another innocent life. But what waits for her beneath the trees is more terrifying than anything she imagined. Can she find the missing girl
and save herself from becoming the monster’s next victim?

Eyes Tight Shut: A completely unputdownable and absolutely gripping serial killer thriller (Detectives Kane and Alton Book 22)

 by D.K. Hood

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

☑️ Dark & twisty.
☑️ Intense.
☑️ Unputdownable.
Happy Publication Day to D.K. Hood and #EyesTightShut (Kane & Alton Book 22)!

Another brilliant story in this series. It touched on AI and the changes to things I'd never even thought of.
We have two major crimes in this story, the first touching on their personal lives putting them all in danger. The second crime is against women, seeming they did wrong to the killer. Electrocuted and left for dead by someone resuming their own FBI Agent. I really enjoyed the police procedures involved in solving these crimes, my heart is still racing.
As for the end awww, big changes for these characters.
Fantastic series, I hightly recommend it.

Her heart races as she waits for her date to arrive. When the doorbell rings, her excitement quickly turns to fear when she takes in her date’s menacing stare as he closes the door behind him. He’s not here to find love, and there’s no time to scream before her world goes black…

When
Dakota Slade fails to turn up to work at the general store, Sheriff Jenna Alton and her deputy David Kane visit her home in Black Rock Falls. TV still blaring, Dakota’s lifeless body is draped across the battered old sofa, her dark hair hanging over her delicate face, her young life taken too soon. With a shuddering breath, Jenna notices two small scorch marks on the back of the victim’s neck. Dakota has been electrocuted.

Leaping into action, Jenna traces Dakota’s last steps but quickly hits a wall. Dakota went to church every week, helped at local charities, and she was loved by those around her. Why would anyone want to harm her?

Then another young woman is found dead in her living room, the same two burn marks on her neck. Jenna’s heart shatters. Convinced a twisted killer is preying on women who live alone, she fears another innocent soul will be taken soon.

A breakthrough comes when Jenna uncovers rumors of a sleazy customer who visited both victims at work. Watching CCTV footage, her pulse pounds as she looks at the screen. The man in the film is someone close to her, someone she thought she could trust. Can Jenna take down the killer if it’s someone she loves? And will she catch him in time to stop another vulnerable young woman being murdered?

A Song for the Dead: A totally addictive edge-of-your-seat crime thriller (Detectives Kane and Alton Book 21)

A serial killer on the loose, it's almost Halloween and there is constant mist rolling in. Things are going bump in the night and I'm reading during a thunderstorm, a loud bang vibrated my windows and I nearly fell off my chair as the knife came down.

What a great setting to aid in the scariness of this story.

Sheriff Alton and her team are slowly putting the pieces together and lining up the suspects. Is it one of them or just a bunch of red herrings.

Women are going missing in threes, no bodies just an obvious murder scene. Bodies from seven years have been uncovered. Are they connected?

We have a glimpse into the private lives of these amazing characters, but nothing distracts from the case at hand.

I was riveted and couldn't put my kindle down. Thanks to NetGalley for an early read. I highly recommend this series and can't wait for the next one.

As she steps out of the shower and wraps herself in a warm towel, her breath catches. There’s writing scrawled in the condensation on the mirror. I’m going to kill you. She doesn’t even have time to scream…

It’s Halloween when a young woman is reported missing from the small town of Black Rock Falls and
Sheriff Jenna Alton and her partner, Deputy David Kane, race to her remote home. But all they find are signs of a struggle and blood on the bathroom floor. Freya Richardson has vanished.

With no leads on Freya’s whereabouts, Jenna hits a wall in the investigation. Then the bodies of three women are discovered buried in a local forest. Each one has been wrapped in a blanket. As Jenna takes in their pretty faces and long blonde hair, her blood runs cold. Freya isn’t here:
but each body looks shockingly like her…

Jenna soon links the victims with an unsolved case where the killer attacked blonde-haired women in their homes and buried the bodies. She’s convinced it’s the same murderer, and seeing that he always takes three victims, she realizes that two more women could be in serious danger…

Working around the clock, Jenna’s heart sinks when a beloved friend makes a terrifying call telling her there’s an intruder in her house. Begging her to hide, Jenna and Dave race to the woman’s house. But can they get there in time to stop another innocent life from being taken?

Where Hidden Souls Lie: An absolutely heart-stopping and completely gripping serial killer thriller (Detectives Kane and Alton Book 20)

 by D.K. Hood

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I had the privilege of an early read and I must say that I couldn't put this book down. It's my birthday, what a gift lol
How much crime can be in one area, it seems criminals flock together. Jenna falls into strife and along the way comes in contact with a young woman with memory loss. Her story as it comes to light is horrifying. Jenna is fleeing for her life and missing, meanwhile Kane is on a secret mission and has no idea.
What kind of sick people live in the surrounding woods? Where girls are just a commodity and thrown away.
I loved the appearance of this author's other series, I won't go into details but well I almost cheered.
We also have the back story of little Tauri and their imminent adoption of him, I can tell you I was in tears by the end of the story.
What a fantastic read, I loved every minute.

As she opens her eyes and takes in the dark, damp earth, her heart races. She tries to move but the rope binding her feet cuts tight—she’s trapped underground. Heavy footsteps pace above. A tear falls down her cheek as she stifles a scream. He’s walking away. He’s left her for dead…

When a shallow grave is discovered in the dark pine forest surrounding Black Rock Falls, Sheriff
Jenna Alton rushes to investigate. After unearthing the old bones, Jenna scours the area for clues: and her heart beats wildly when she bumps into a teenage girl, breathless and covered in dirt. Wanda Beauchamp tells Jenna she was kidnapped from her foster home and buried alive. Could the kidnapper be linked to the shallow grave?

Taking in Wanda’s thin frame, Jenna knows the poor girl is close to death. She’ll do everything she can to save her, but they’re miles from anywhere and night is falling fast. When Wanda falls, the kidnapper makes his move and
Jenna is powerless to stop him taking the young girl’s life. Escaping the same fate, she is wracked with guilt and vows to catch the ruthless killer and bring him to justice.

When another girl is reported missing from a foster home, Jenna and her deputy
David Kane know they must act fast to save her. Jenna believes the murderer lives off-grid, and a clue at a local supply store finally leads her to a remote cabin in the woods.

Still haunted by Wanda’s last moments, can Jenna lay a trap to outsmart this twisted killer preying on young girls?
Or did she just put herself in unthinkable danger?

This absolutely gripping crime thriller is perfect for fans of Lisa Regan, Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot. From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author D.K. Hood, Where Hidden Souls Lie will have you gasping for breath!

**Each Kane and Alton book can be read as part of the series or as a standalone**

Shadow Angel: An absolutely addictive and nail-biting crime thriller (Detective Beth Katz Book 2)

 by D.K. Hood (Author)

😍😍😍😍😍

Goodness I nearly missed my train stop, I was so engrossed in this story. It was more of a slow burn to the action but learning more about the characters was just as good as book 1. Beth is FBI, her past has made her what she is. A vigilante that doesn't go by the books, sometime a criminal is caught the right way and other times the law fails. There were two serial killers' stories in this novel, both sick in their own ways. Especially the main story, I didn't even try to guess who the killer was, I just enjoyed the ride. A couple of scenes my heart was racing and I had to back track and reread as I read too fast in desperation to see whodunnit. Fantastic series, I can't wait for more.

In a dark cabin, a young woman sits totally still. Long dark hair hangs over her shoulders and heavy makeup adorns her pale face. Cherry red lips offer a hint of a smile, but she won’t ever smile again. Her body is already cold to the touch…

When black crows are spotted circling over an abandoned cabin in the woods near Rattlesnake Creek, FBI agent
Beth Katz and her maverick partner Dax Styles fear something is very wrong. Beth has been hunting serial killers for years, and as she races to the forest she vows to serve her own form of justice, whatever the cost…

Cassie Durham’s friends reported her missing when she didn’t return home from a local bar a few days ago. Now, Cassie sits in darkness, her last breath taken days before. Beth notices the rouged cheeks and bright blue eyeshadow are nothing like the pictures she’s seen of Cassie alive. Did someone add the heavy makeup and pose her like this after death?

When another woman vanishes from a night out, Beth is convinced a twisted killer is in town. A clue on the dark web leads her to a local late-night hangout. Going undercover, she learns that when both girls vanished they were being watched by someone at the back of the crowded room.

Noticing a man following her every move, Beth knows she has one chance to capture him. With a knife in her pocket and hellbent on saving another innocent life, Beth is already sure she’s going to be the killer tonight.
Otherwise she will become his next victim…
