Protecting Melody (SEAL of Protection Book 7)

 by Susan Stoker

Amazon

I've really loved this series. I've read a lot of Ms Stoker's books, not necessarily in order so I've gone back to reread and fill in the gaps. I was looking forward to Tex's story and the author didn't disappoint. Tex and Mel 'met' online, after 6 months he knew something was wrong and he was determined to track her down. A stalker and so much danger waiting to happen made for a very entertaining story. The anticipation built up through the story and in the meantime these two fell in love. The ending though, I've just lost my dog and I was in tears thinking evil thoughts of this author "don't you do it!" I'm not going to tell you what happened.
Great story, now what's next in this author's world for me to read?

Tex gave everything he had to his country and his SEAL teammates. When an IED took away part of his leg, and his career, he devoted himself to his country and friends from behind his computer. He’s always been the man that can find anyone, that uses his computer skills, legal and illegal, to keep people safe and to put the bad guys behind bars.

But behind a computer is a lonely place to be. While he might put on a good front, Tex can’t help but feel he’s missing out when he sees how happy his friends are. But when the woman he’s been talking to online for the last six months suddenly disappears without a word, Tex knows it’s time to step up, and use his skills for himself this time.

**Protecting Melody is the 7th book in the SEAL of Protection Series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but it’s recommended you read the books in order to get maximum enjoyment out of the series.

Savage in a Stetson (Crossroads Book 4)

 by Em Petrova

Amazon

It's time for Dom "Savage" to retire from the rodeo circuit. What will he do with his life, he enjoys cooking so opens a BBQ joint. Not noticing across the road is a mirror image...is there room for two in town. To make things worse...or is it better, it's run by his ex.
Jada is not over her cowboy and he still loves her. Can she forgive him for leaving her, will they have a love hate relationship?
The banter between them was hilarious, not to mention the antics to outdo each other.
This was a very entertaining Sunday read for me. Great characters and fun story line.

They were friends. Now they’re business rivals. Is there room for being lovers too?

Jada Ellis is ready to make some big life changes. When she leaves her job as caregiver in the Crossroads, Georgia nursing home and buys the local BBQ joint on a whim, everyone thinks she’s lost her mind, including her. Just as she starts to feel she’s found the perfect happy trail, she sees another kind of happy trail, leading across the road to her very buff and smoking-hot ex who’s fresh off the rodeo circuit and back in town.

Dominick Cole’s grandpa advised him to stay in the small town, settle down and raise a family here. But he didn’t listen and ran off to chase a golden buckle as a big-time rodeo star. But when “Savage” Cole returns to start up a barbecue restaurant, he couldn’t find a better—or sexier—rival in Jada. The town isn’t big enough for both of them—but a bed might be.

Smoldering friends to enemies to rivals to lovers romance never went down so good. Grab a sweet tea—or something harder—and binge on the latest book in the Crossroads series!

The Priestess and the Thief: Kindred Tales 30

 by Evangeline Anderson

Amazon

This was such a fun read.  I always have such a laugh over the food and animal descriptions, the author has a great imagination.

A priestess in training and a smuggler, talk about opposites or are they really. She's being punished, but heads off on her own mission. The Goddess has ordered him to save her on several occasions and he's the cause of her punishment.

Such an adventure they had together, her vows went out the window. What is her destiny if not what she promised?

The Goddess will set them both on the right path...that's after they survive another planet and danger.

Entertaining series, I highly recommend it.

A Thief who has no honor...

A Priestess who has broken her vow of chastity...

Can the two of them complete a quest at the treacherous Tenebrian Court?

Read The Priestess and the Thief to find out.

Ellilah is a priestess…but not a very good one. She doesn’t seem to have the right temperament for quiet meditation. And even worse, she broke her vow of chastity at the Christmas party after a dark stranger drugged her punch. Now she’s being sent to the Priory of Extreme Atonement—an ominous place with no windows and daily beatings.

But Elli has always had a mind of her own. Instead of handing herself over for punishment, she goes on a quest to find a cure for the old Priestess Superior who is dying.
Elli’s quest will take her to the Tenebrian Court and put her in great danger…which is why the Goddess sends her some help in the form of the very same dark stranger who drugged her punch in the first place.

Roke is half Havoc—a Kindred-like race of males who refuse to bond with females. He is none too pleased at being sent to protect the little priestess, but he doesn’t dare disobey the Goddess. Once he meets Elli again, however, he feels an instant attraction to her. He goes with her to the dangerous Tenebrian Court to protect her from the predatory nobles—especially the rapacious Crown Prince who insists that everyone “Mirror” his erotic activities at supper every night.

Will the two of them be able to complete their quest and leave the Court alive? Will Roke admit he wants to bond with Elli, even though he has sworn never to take a bride? And will Elli ever forgive herself for breaking her vow of chastity with the dark warrior?
Read The Priestess and the Thief and find out!

Mistletoe Cottage (Holiday Cottage Series Book 10)

by Susan Horsnell

Amazon

A beautiful story with such likeable characters.

This city girl needs a break in the country. Little did she know that she'd find love.

She and the local fire captain had such chemistry.

The mystery is the fire bug in town, who could it be and can it be solved before someone is killed.

This was a well written, steady paced story of Christmas time and the love that can be found.

I loved it and highly recommend this book.

The Holiday Cottages are magical places, where those who come to Sprucewood, Colorado to “get away” find themselves, and their hopes renewed, relationships kindled and dreams coming true.

Fed up with corporate life in Denver and the ‘boys club’ attitude where she works, Renae Caldwell resigns her job.
She has one month before she commences with a new company and intends to use it to rejuvenate herself.

When an advertisement for the Cottages Farm in Sprucewood catches her eye, Renae decides she will spend her vacation there in the clean air and peace of the mountains. She rents Mistletoe Cottage and falls in love with it at first sight.

Mason Flint is Sprucewood’s Fire Brigade Captain and loves living in this small mountain town a few hours from Denver. He’s a confirmed bachelor, happy with life.

Life for Mason will never be the same once he encounters the beautiful lady visiting from the city. Will she feel the same about him?

Will Renae’s life, and the lives of others, be threatened by an out of control arsonist, or will Mason find the perpetrator in time? And what part will the cottage play in Renae and Mason’s future?

Seventh Wife of the Demon King

 by Jordan Elizabeth

Amazon

This author always takes me out of my romance genre comfort zone. Her imagination is crazy good.
Lady Katherine was raised with a mission, to marry the Demon King and obtain a secret. This secret item will return their Kingdom to it's former glory.
Plenty of mystery in this fast read, I was glued to my kindle and loved every moment.

Lady Katherine has been raised from childhood to fulfill her parents’ plan and marry the demon king. It’s the last thing she wants, but it’s the one thing she gets. King Edward is sadistic, repulsive, and likes nothing more than to drain the blood of his human playthings. Lord Robin, half-demon and half-human, hates his boring life at court until he meets the new queen. Quiet Queen Katherine sparks life in him, and his demon half recognizes her as his soul mate. He can finally feel complete – except that she’s already married to his sovereign and the demon king won’t release any of his wives until death claims them. Katherine’s lover isn’t her only secret. There is more to her parents’ plan than being King Edward’s seventh wife, and if she’s able to complete her mission, the kingdom will never be the same.

SEALs of Honor: Axel

 by Dale Mayer

Amazon

Another great series that I enjoy immensely. Axel is part of a team on a mission to investigate a downed submarine. Is anyone on board still alive? There's more to this than they imagined with murder and sabotage. Dr Allee Minga is found to be the only survivor so that puts her in the scapegoat position. Axel is determined to keep her safe. There is plenty of mystery and intrigue in this story, the romance comes much later. A very entertaining story, I loved it.

Life was never boring, but, for Axel, things kick up a notch when he helps in an underwater rescue of a downed submarine that’s low on oxygen. What they find is nothing like what they expected. All the crew but one was dead—as in shot to death. The last remaining crew member was alive but in rough shape. What the hell happened here?

Allee woke up in the hospital and barely remembers how she got here. But a fuzzy memory only compounds the horror when the investigation ranks her as their number one suspect in the nightmare that won’t quit.

As the investigation takes a darker turn, so does her life, as someone decides a dead patsy is better than one who can talk …

Cahootus Hollow (Echoes of New York Book 3)

 by Jordan Elizabeth

Amazon

What a magical tale this was and at times so sad. Not too long, it was a lunch time read for me.
I liked Clara, her mother was miserable blaming Clara for all her misfortunes.
Clara befriends a 'ghost' a woman who is related to her and long gone. There are secrets to be told which made for a very entertaining story.

“Those who do dare to enter, do it for the magic plant that only grows there.”

Folks don't want to go near Cahootus Hollow. It's tucked away from the other villages, and the people who live in the hollow don't welcome outsiders.

Clara doesn't believe in magic, but her mother has become obsessed with the hollow's magical plant. Running the family farm falls to Clara and her brother, while her mother shrinks ever deeper inside herself. Clara doesn't know how long she can keep their lives going, as each moment becomes more of a struggle.

One day, Clara comes across a house near the river. The secrets it holds can unlock her past if she's brave enough to figure out who she is and discover her true place in the hollow.
