Link by Link: An Anthology of Haunted Holidays

by Elle Beaumont, Candace Robinson, and 8 more

Amazon

A great collection of stories, I'm not familiar with any of the authors so I look forward to discovering new favourites.

The Spirit of You by Elle Beaumont
Music, dreams never to be filled. A future wiped out in an instant. So incredibly sad. He still visits her but for how long, is he real or a dream? Just long enough to fulfill their dream and fade away? Ugh it tugged on the heart strings, beautiful story.

I'll be back to further review as I complete more stories.

“‘I wear the chain I forged in life,’ replied the Ghost. ‘I made it link by link…’”-Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

Link by Link is a collection of 9 stories of ghosts, spirits, and creatures unnamed, all come to teach lessons we won’t soon forget. From sweet Christmas tales to terrifying holiday hauntings, these stories take a dive into the past in the hopes of creating a better—or at least different—future.

Companion 3000

by Evangeline Anderson

Amazon

A fun, out of this world story. Not as great as the Kindred characters but still fun. Leita was a lonely woman with strong sexual fantasies isolated in outer space. She ordered a robot- sex doll and received more than she bargained for. Her fake robot is on the run for a crime he didn't commit. Will she find out he's not a robot or will he be too late to tell her? Some action and adventure has them thrown together later making for a sizzling story.

Leita knows she can't afford a robot sex slave but she's lonely...

Pierce is on the run and posing as a robot seems like a good way to hide...

What happens when he has to pretend to be her...Companion 3000?

Leita McLain runs a small solo asteroid mining outfit at the ass end of the Centauri solar system. She's had no luck in getting a man to stay with her so she decides to buy a Companion droid, the very latest in cybernetic sex slaves.

Pierce Branson is a man addicted to adventure. But when he finds himself with a bounty on his head for a crime he didn't commit, he knows he's got problems. During a shoot out in the Companion factory, Pierce hides in one of the packing crates. Next thing he knows, he's waking up in Leita's bedroom and starting his new life-as a sex slave. But he doesn't count on falling in love with his new Mistress. Or on playing the part of her "Master" when Leita decides she wants to explore her kinky side.

Now both Leita and Pierce have some choices to make. Leita knows she shouldn't let herself fall for a cybernetic sex slave and Pierce knows he ought to tell her the truth. But will Leita forgive him if he comes clean? You'll have to read Companion 3000 to find out.

***This book was first published under the title: For Her Pleasure many years ago. Now that I finally have the rights back, I am republishing it with a sexy new cover. Enjoy!

Finding Home (Love Across Time Book 3)

 by Annie Seaton

Amazon

What a wonderful story this was, I haven't read the previous two but will certainly check them out now.
It's a beautifully written time travel romance, Alice had a wonderful journey. Caught up in times of war in London, losing her parents her grief takes her home to her childhood cottage. The mysterious stones in the field beyond her cottage draw her closer. She is transported to a time way before hers. Will she get back or find enough reasons to stay?
A beautiful romance, I highly recommend it.

Alice McLaren is a traveller . . . but her travels must remain a secret. Now that she has no one of her own, she leaves London during the Blitz to move to her family’s cottage in Somerset. Alice plans to take evacuated children from London and care for them in the country.
However, her travels take her much further than she anticipates, away to a safer place far from the war and the incessant bombing.
When she meets and falls in love with Branton, Alice is torn. There is a child to be rescued, and Alice is the only one who can save Amelia Adnum. She must choose between Branton and taking the lost child home safely.
As circumstances change, Alice must make a decision that could change many lives.
Branton knows Alice holds a secret, but he cannot understand why she refuses to stay with him. He cannot bear to lose her, but can Branton convince Alice that their love will endure, no matter what?

Rowan (The K9 Files Book 10)

 by Dale Mayer

Amazon

I'm such a fan of this series. Rowan is on the hunt for a missing K9 after the California bushfires and his paths cross with Brandi who is also hunting for her missing dog. There is so much more going on than missing dogs, who is shooting at them? Murder, kidnapping, injured dogs and break ins, this book has it all. Let's not forget chemistry and a simmering romance. What great characters these two were, you'll be hoping for a HEA after all they've been through.

Rowan hopes that the deep emptiness inside him might possibly heal—if he just finds the retired K9 Hershey, named after an old trainer buddy. Nothing can hold Rowan back from locating his old K9 friend. What he didn’t expect was his old friend had found a new friend, with puppies of her own.

Brandi had just lost her grandmother, her home, and her best four-legged friend, Lacey, in a horrible forest fire that swept through town. Everyone said to not give up on Lacey, as dogs often disappeared only to reappear later. That one thought calls her to spend every spare moment she has at the site, calling for Lacey. When she realizes someone else has the same idea, she’s happy to join forces.

When things get ugly, she’s glad to have someone at her side because she hadn’t seen what ugly could really look like … until now.

Woke

 by Peggy Jaeger

Amazon

I received this book from Quirky Blind Date with a Book

This was my first read by this author and I've never heard of her before. I love having a book blind-date to introduce me to new-to-me authors.

Aurora's story is interesting and entertaining, imagine waking up after 10 years in a coma. The world has moved on, friends living their lives but for family their life stopped and remained at your hospital bed. The main part of this story takes place a further five years after waking, relearning all motor skills and finally wanting to know how and why. Was she poisoned on purpose or by accident? It took me a few chapters to get into it but once I was hooked I couldn't put it down. Great plot, interesting and mostly likeable characters. I was thoroughly entertained.

Waking up each day is a gift….

On her 21st birthday, someone slipped a potent drug combination into socialite Aurora Brightwell’s champagne putting her in a coma for the next ten years. It’s been a long road back, and it’s time to reclaim the life she lost and find out exactly what happened on that fateful night.

Financier Kincade Enright has his own reason for helping Aurora discover who poisoned her, but for the time being he’s keeping that - and his true identity - to himself. What he can’t keep hidden though, are his growing feelings for the one-time paparazzi darling and party-girl.

When this prince of finance joins forces with the former sleeping beauty, nothing can stop them from finding the answers they seek…or prevent the powerful emotions developing between them as they search for the truth.

1001 Dark Nights Short Story Anthology 2020

by Fiona Archer and 35 other authors listed below

Amazon - It's currently FREE

I can't wait to work through these stories. I've read Prince of Seattle by Fiona Archer so far.

It's nice to see Ms Archer revisiting some of my fave characters

Kayla and Gabriel had a history, but as a teen she was too young and he was still a playboy. Working together without noticing a thunder storm causing flooding they are trapped for the night in his home. It's time to talk, as there is no escape. What were his reasons for emotionally hurting her those few years ago?

Pity the story was so short as I would love more but it's a great tease as I'm sure the rest of the short stories will be.
