The Only Goal: A College Sports Romance (Nolan U Hockey Book 5)

 by Katy Archer

🏒🏒🏒🏒🏒

I do love a good sports romance and I think this might be my fave from this series. Hockey didn't really play a big part in this story but their relationship did. Their vulnerabilities, emotions and lack of communication had these two divided when they should have been together. Tammy and Baxter had been childhood friends, a big connection that never quite panned out. Five years later has them together again. It won't be easy, other factors are involved.
My heart went out to them, will life come full circle for them?

What a wonderful story.

In high school, he was relegated to the friend zone… but now this college hockey graduate is getting a second chance to make up for past mistakes…

When I was sixteen my only goal was convincing my best friend, Tammy, to be my girlfriend. But I messed it up… and then she got together with another guy. My heart was torn right out of my chest. Everything between us changed—I lost her.

But now, after years of not seeing her, she's walking through my door with a kid on her hip and a desperate look on her face. "I don't know where else to go? Can we stay with you for a little while?"

Of course she can stay. It takes everything in me not to tell her to stay forever. Because even after all this time, she still's the one.

Every smile, every whisper… every laugh we ever shared is bright in my memory. She's the only girl I've ever wanted.

And this time around, I can't go screwing it up.

This time around… I have to make her mine for keeps.

The Only Goal is a sweet and spicy stand-alone NA hockey romance with a guaranteed happy ending. Perfect for fans of Off-Campus by Elle Kennedy, #Nerd by Cambria Hebert and Don't Let Me by Kelsie Rae.

I really enjoyed this small town and it's characters. A wonderful storyline full of emotions.

Protecting the love of my life? That’s going to take everything I’ve got.

Easy, if it weren’t for the gorgeous and fascinating Kai Davies, with secrets of his own.

Just when I figure out how to fit Kai into my life, my past finds me, rearing its ugly head, and I mean ugly. Kai is determined to be my hero, but I don’t need one. I’ll handle everything myself like I always do. Then ugly turns to frightening, and frightening turns to deadly and then I turn to Kai. But is it too late?

Burning Lies: An unputdownable murder mystery that will have you hooked (A Dr Harrison Lane Mystery Book 9)

 by Gwyn Bennett

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is a new to me author and I thoroughly enjoyed their work. Even though it's book 9 I didn't feel out of the loop. Dr Lane is an interesting character, I'll assume he assists the police when it comes to Ritualistic Behavioural Crimes.

A unique murder in a small village. Villagers who tell the same story. Something suspicious is happening here.

I really enjoyed the way the author wove this tale as pieces started to fall into place. I do like the way it ended, it would seem that karma took care of justice.

Great story, I look forward to looking at more from this series.

The tangy smell of smoke hangs heavy in the air, mingling with the early morning mist. As it lifts, a shape emerges in the centre of the tranquil meadow. A scarecrow? No… rising from the ashes of a dying fire, stands a blackened wooden cross – and tied to it, the dark outline of a body.

When a woman is found burnt at the stake on the edge of a pretty English village, the police suspect this is no ordinary murder. Dr Harrison Lane, Head of the Ritualistic Behavioural Crime unit, is quickly summoned to unravel the mystery.

As Harrison investigates, he uncovers a web of deceit woven through the tight-knit community of Thistleford. The villagers claim the victim, Louise Swift, was a gifted psychic, beloved by all… but Harrison immediately senses darker forces at play.

When another body is discovered at nearby Harmony House, home to a group of reclusive ex-convicts seeking redemption, the case takes a sinister turn. Are the deaths connected? And does the house harbour more potential victims… or something far more dangerous?

As Harrison races to catch the killer, he must confront his own demons, re-awakened by this grisly case. Can he see through the lies all around him and unmask the evil hiding in Thistleford before it's too late?

 by Jenny O'Brien (Author)

Out August 16th

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I have not read this author before and I intend on going back to see what came before this book. Even though it's book 3, the story stands alone.
Detective Mack is an interesting character, she's been through her own personal hell landing her wheelchair bound. Her team seem supportive and I really enjoyed their banter and expertise in solving these crimes.
We started the story with bones, next thing there are more deaths, attempted murders and the mystery of adoption.
What an exciting chase this author leads us on, connecting the dots was thorough and intriguing.
Great story, I really enjoyed it.

Human bones in a crab pot. A family's dark secrets. A killer's twisted revenge.

Dax's sister disappeared when they were kids, has his partner Beth found a viable lead? This clue leads them into the dangerous world of stolen children, a pedophile ring and illegal adoptions. It's so big someone wants them taken out before they unravel this crime.
We see another vulnerable side to Beth but it doesn't stop her alter ego taking action.
I really love all the characters at work in this story, the police investigative work and the fight against such dark and evil players.
Great story, I highly recommend this series.

She bites her nails as she steals a glance at the stranger in the pickup truck beside her. She trusted him when he offered her a ride, but now, as he turns onto a deserted road leading into a dark pine forest, she knows she’s made a huge mistake.

Special agent
Beth Katz races through the dense Montana woodland toward a small, isolated cabin. She’s investigating the disappearance of her partner Dax Styles’s sister who went missing as she walked home from school, and Beth finally has a solid lead. Outside the decrepit building, her heart pounds wondering what she will find on the other side of the door.

A young woman with long brown hair and cornflower blue eyes, just like Dax’s, shakes in the kitchen. It’s clearly Ginny, but before Dax can speak to his long-lost sister, Beth hears a noise from outside. In a rundown outbuilding, they discover another young girl, reported missing just weeks before. Dressed in a thin nightie, Ava cowers as Beth breaks into the padlocked room. Her captor has fled, but Beth will use every skill she’s got to track him down.

Working night and day, Beth uncovers more cases of young girls taken from remote roads near their homes. Twelve-year-old
Shiloh Weeks vanished as she walked home just days ago. Her story remarkably similar to Ginny and Ava’s.

Beth and Dax are on a mission to put a stop to this twisted individual and save any new girls from being taken into the woods and lost forever. But when the trail leads them to a man impersonating a police officer to gain the trust of his victims, will Dax hand him over or take matters into his own hands?

Perfect for fans of Robert Dugoni, Lisa Regan and Melinda Leigh, this absolutely nail-biting new crime series from USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, D.K. Hood, is sure to keep you up all night!
