Face Her Fear: An absolutely addictive crime and mystery thriller filled with heart-pounding suspense (Detective Josie Quinn Book 19)

 by Lisa Regan

🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Once again this author does a brilliant job, was it him, her or the other person? I never know until Josie starts putting the pieces together and giving the facts.
I've only read of few of this series, but I feel this one is different. A little slower to take off but I was still glued. A bit like being locked in a room knowing someone is the killer. Trapped in a blizzard this odd group of people are slowly running out of supplies and patience. A body is found and the mystery begins. No one else can surely get up to this snowed in place so the killer is in the room. Who is it and why?
Noah is trying hard to get to his wife and runs into his own issues. His life is also in danger.
What an exciting ride this story was. The characters are great, not sure about the new cop, time will tell where the author is taking him.
I highly recommend this series.

Blood roars in Josie’s ears as they circle the tree in the deep snow. A woman lies still on the freezing ground. The howling wind lifts the last of the snow clinging to her face, exposing her lovely features, frozen in forever sleep.

Detective Josie Quinn is still recovering from the killing of a beloved member of her team when she and her husband Noah receive yet more devastating news. Close to her breaking point, Josie heads to a specialist trauma retreat, set in an isolated group of log cabins in the mountains of Pennsylvania. But fear is not far behind her. Josie’s five fellow patients all seem to be hiding secrets darker than just the problems that brought them there and a storm is gathering, with thick snow coming down fast, isolating the cabins from the world below.

Then one morning,
Meg Cleary disappears. Having spent years living in terror of a stalker, Meg had come to the retreat to try to piece her life back together. But now, her cabin is empty, no logs are burning in her fireplace, no tracks in the snow lead to or from her door. Quickly organizing a search, Josie’s worst fear is realized when she finds Meg’s body lying in the snow, the marks around her neck revealing that her death was no accident.

And this is no normal case, as Josie is stranded without her team, a phone signal or any legal authority to investigate. When she discovers that someone has placed hidden cameras inside the retreat buildings, Josie’s terror grows with the knowledge that the murderer is among them.

Then another patient goes missing. With their food supplies running low and no chance of escape, Josie knows that she is in the greatest danger of her life, and that she alone has a chance to identify the killer and save the rest of the group before it’s too late…

Bone Lake: An absolutely gripping, heart-pounding and twisty mystery and suspense thriller (Nikki Hunt Book 8)

 by Stacy Green

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I forgot I had this one on my kindle. I have read another series by this author but not this one, guess I should go back to book 1 and start over. The story stands alone though I know I'm missing character growth.

A murder from two decades ago was bungled by the authorities and a documentary is bringing other clues to life.

Another murder in the same house,  is it connected or a coincidence. Nikki and her team are on the hunt for a missing girl. The bodies are piling up, why were they killed? Did they find out something?

I had no idea, the author did such a great job spinning my head. I really enjoyed watching the pieces fall into place, although there was a heart stopping moment at the end. Will they all come out of this alive?

Great story, I highly recommend it.

Broken flowers drift on the foggy surface of the water. All is quiet, until the squad of police cruisers race up to the grand house that stands alone on the lakeside. Two girls lie inside, their bodies broken and still forever…

When
Special Agent Nikki Hunt is called to a home on Bone Lake, she is devastated to find blood all over the floor and two young women who clearly fought for their lives. But the viciousness of the scene isn’t the only thing that strikes Nikki. The house was the scene of another murder twenty years ago. The killer was never caught. Is this a terrible coincidence, or have they struck again?

Nikki’s team quickly identify the girls from their belongings in the bedrooms upstairs. They had a party the night they were killed, and Nikki realizes that one attendee, their friend
Alexia, is missing…

Desperate to find Alexia, Nikki soon discovers that the only survivor of the original massacre, Matt Kline, still owns the house. She is instantly suspicious of him. But he claims he rents it out and hasn’t been there for years, and as Nikki looks into his dark eyes she sees her own terrible past.

With time running out, Nikki and her team dig into Alexia’s life, and find out she was fascinated with the original Bone Lake case. Amongst her things, they find notebook after notebook about serial killers. Then Nikki is shocked to learn that Alexia was having a relationship with Matt. Has Nikki make a terrible mistake trusting a fellow survivor?
And can she get the truth out of him, and find Alexia alive, before it’s too late?

You’ll be glued to the pages of this heart-racing new thriller in the Nikki Hunt series. Fans of Lisa Regan, Mary Burton and Kendra Elliot will be gripped by the twists in this incredible read.

What an amazing story teller this author is. I was invested in the characters from the first pages. The book didn't need steam and action it was full of life and emotions. Not to mention fun, the animals almost stole the show here. Luna and Jameson co own this farm and its staff of crazy misfits. A place for community, love and fun. Rescue animals to tug at your heartstrings and the reality of running in the red. How can they fix this before losing their property? Once you get to know Luna then you'll know it will involve a village. The Bright Spot was an absolute pleasure to read and I highly recommend it.

New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis returns to Sunrise Cove with a heartwarming story about the choices we make and the love we let into our lives...

Luna Wright is a lot of things, but sweet and trusting isn’t on the list. However, she’s a sucker for the underdog and a hard-luck story. Adopted at birth, with scant knowledge of her biological family, she’s created her own inner circle, a motley crew which includes her bestie Willow, to help her run the struggling but charming Apple Ridge Farm.

With a farm-to-table café as well as a menagerie of rescued animals (complete with a baby goat who keeps escaping to the pantry to eat the secret stash of decidedly not organic potato chips), it’s the best home she’s ever known. But when the owner Silas, who they secretly call The Grinch, passes away, Luna discovers the farm is now under control of his investment manager, the enigmatic Jameson Hayes….and her. And that Silas had many, many secrets.

Now Luna’s carefully controlled corner of the world is threatened and she—along with some help from her friends—has to dig deep to find true strength and the real meaning of love and family.

Insanity (Psychic Visions Book 24)

 by Dale Mayer

Amazon

🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

This story left my head spinning. Dr Cressy comes back to work after 6 months of emotional healing. There is evil in the sanatorium, only it's not in this realm. Changes were made when she left, and they were not for the good of the patients. Food, cleanliness and security were some of the issues and she knew she had a fight on her hands. FBI Agent Gray is by her side most of the way. He needs answers from a child patient regarding his family death, only he won't see what's actually coming!! There were so many layers to this story, from corruption to danger. Well written characters and their stories, I just couldn't put it down.

Dr. Cresswell Simmons, a dream worker, is passionate about traumatized psychics and works in a psychiatric hospital to find those she can help. Six months ago, she barely survived a traumatic experience with a patient. Now on the cusp of returning to work and dreading every minute of it, she’s asked to step back into the same case that almost destroyed her. She desperately wants to say no, but an eight-year-old boy’s life is at stake.

Gray Burnett had worked on the original case, watching the devastation that had hurt Cressy. When asked to help her retrieve the information they need, he agrees—but more to protect her and the little boy than following orders. When her return to work is less than joyful, he wonders at the undercurrents in the hospital, as jealousy, admin disputes, even Board of Director members dominate the investigation and not in a good way.

Cressy is used to a world that doesn’t understand her work, but she needs Gray to open up and to see what’s going on around them. It’s the only way they will survive, as the case takes a bizarre turn that shocks even her …

A Song for the Dead: A totally addictive edge-of-your-seat crime thriller (Detectives Kane and Alton Book 21)

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

A serial killer on the loose, it's almost Halloween and there is constant mist rolling in. Things are going bump in the night and I'm reading during a thunderstorm, a loud bang vibrated my windows and I nearly fell off my chair as the knife came down.

What a great setting to aid in the scariness of this story.

Sheriff Alton and her team are slowly putting the pieces together and lining up the suspects. Is it one of them or just a bunch of red herrings.

Women are going missing in threes, no bodies just an obvious murder scene. Bodies from seven years have been uncovered. Are they connected?

We have a glimpse into the private lives of these amazing characters, but nothing distracts from the case at hand.

I was riveted and couldn't put my kindle down. Thanks to NetGalley for an early read. I highly recommend this series and can't wait for the next one.

As she steps out of the shower and wraps herself in a warm towel, her breath catches. There’s writing scrawled in the condensation on the mirror. I’m going to kill you. She doesn’t even have time to scream…

It’s Halloween when a young woman is reported missing from the small town of Black Rock Falls and
Sheriff Jenna Alton and her partner, Deputy David Kane, race to her remote home. But all they find are signs of a struggle and blood on the bathroom floor. Freya Richardson has vanished.

With no leads on Freya’s whereabouts, Jenna hits a wall in the investigation. Then the bodies of three women are discovered buried in a local forest. Each one has been wrapped in a blanket. As Jenna takes in their pretty faces and long blonde hair, her blood runs cold. Freya isn’t here:
but each body looks shockingly like her…

Jenna soon links the victims with an unsolved case where the killer attacked blonde-haired women in their homes and buried the bodies. She’s convinced it’s the same murderer, and seeing that he always takes three victims, she realizes that two more women could be in serious danger…

Working around the clock, Jenna’s heart sinks when a beloved friend makes a terrifying call telling her there’s an intruder in her house. Begging her to hide, Jenna and Dave race to the woman’s house. But can they get there in time to stop another innocent life from being taken?
