Bully King Anthology

by Aria Peyton, Angel Van Dam, Candace Adams,  Helena Novak, Kira Roman, Margo Bond Collins, Payne Craven, Mel Dixon, Vanessa Muse, Zelda Knight

Amazon

This looks like it will be an awesome and entertaining collection of magical tales.
I've only read one so far: Taming the menace by Aria Peyton
Tilly is a bullying bitch and I hated this character at the beginning and grateful that I've never worked for anyone like that. Why is she no nasty to her staff?
Jaxon steps in, he's not afraid of her so should she be afraid of him? There's more to him than meets the eye. A tryst in the forest brings unexpected results. I won't give anymore away, it's a great story and I certainly wanted more.

All's fair in love and war.

Fall in love with the jaded lead, root for the drop-dead-sexy anti-hero, and run from... or to... dangerous creatures of the night.

Succubi, Vampires, Shifters, Fae, Magical Academies and more - The Bully King Anthology is a collection of dangerously sexy tales written by a collective of talented authors, that you wont be able to find anywhere else! Indulge in your fantasies as we transport you to new worlds that are full of sexual tension, action and intrigue.

Hideaway

 by Nora Roberts

I've been enjoying this author's book for years now. I love the way she writes, I just sigh and sink into the story.
This is a lifetime tale of a Hollywood family, generations of actors. The main story is a kidnapping and their lives later, we watch this child grow into a young woman with deaths, marriages and drama creating a wonderful story.
A story of family and revenge. A twisted family member and criminals creating chaos.
Dillon and his family on the nearby ranch have been part of the family for a long time, since the kidnapping. It was nice to see the kids come full circle through their lives. I just wanted a little more by the end but it was beautiful.

Caitlyn Sullivan had come from a long line of Hollywood royalty, stretching back to her Irish immigrant great-grandfather. At nine, she was already a star―yet still an innocent child who loved to play hide and seek with her cousins at the family home in Big Sur. It was during one of those games that she disappeared.

Some may have considered her a pampered princess, but Cate was in fact a smart, scrappy fighter, and she managed to escape her abductors. Dillon Cooper was shocked to find the bloodied, exhausted girl huddled in his house―but when the teenager and his family heard her story they provided refuge, reuniting her with her loved ones.

Cate’s ordeal, though, was far from over. First came the discovery of a shocking betrayal that would send someone she’d trusted to prison. Then there were years spent away in western Ireland, peaceful and protected but with restlessness growing in her soul.

Finally, she would return to Los Angeles, gathering the courage to act again and get past the trauma that had derailed her life. What she didn’t yet know was that two seeds had been planted that long-ago night―one of a great love, and one of a terrible vengeance…

Zack's Zest: A SEALs of Honor World Novel (Heroes for Hire Book 24)

 by Dale Mayer

Amazon

Another action packed story in this series. Zack is off to Turkey to rescue a young woman kidnapped. I curled up on the couch this lazy Sunday afternoon reading it in one sitting, it was impossible to put down.
Zadie and Zack had chemistry, though neither could see it at the beginning.
There was plenty of suspense, danger and action in this book. Great likable characters too. I loved every moment of it and can't wait for the next one after the teaser at the end.

Zack wasn’t someone to focus on his mistakes, but he’d made a big one, and it was hard to move on from it. Still he was determined to work with Levi’s team to find new meaning in his life and to get his head on straight. At least that was the plan. When he ends up part of a two-man team to rescue a kidnapped woman, the daughter of a former politician, Zack doesn’t know how to react—she’s certainly unique. Not the least of which, she didn’t appreciate the rescue. … At least not once she learns the details.
Zadie knew her father was guilty of the crimes he’d been accused of. She was more concerned about her mother, who’d always been the downtrodden and obedient wife. But, as more and more evidence shines a light on their lives and her kidnapping, the issue is no longer as clear.
Heartbroken at the losses that keep mounting, Zadie knows she needs a second rescue—hopefully by her same rescuer. Only it’s not as simple this time, and it’s infinitely more dangerous …

Hitting Xtremes (Xtreme Ops Book 1)

 by Em Petrova

Amazon

What an awesome adventure this story was, I couldn't put it down. This tale just took off running.
A debut for this team, and they were flawless. An immediate mission gives no time for bonding but they worked as one. After they saved Cora from a downed plane she was determined to save them by being their guide. There is undeniable chemistry between her and their leader. Will it get in their way of the mission?
Set in Alaska, it made me shiver reading it. Drug smuggling, hijacking planes, murder, it had it all.
Great story, steady paced, full of action, danger and loving. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

No amount of snow and ice can melt this attraction…

Special ops captain Penn Sullivan is no stranger to extreme conditions, but chasing an elusive drug trafficker through the Alaskan wilderness proves a challenge. His beautiful and bossy bush guide claims to know the land better than any high-tech GPS system the military offers and has Penn alternately grinding his teeth with frustration…and from a heavy dose of lust for the bold woman with too much allure for her own good.

First the bush plane belonging to Cora’s daddy is hijacked. Then it goes down in the remote area locals call No Man’s Land. Now a special ops unit with more gadgets and muscles than brains or skills to last in the elements is on a man hunt—and she’s determined to help. But it doesn’t take long before she finds that a big, strong tough-guy like Penn really does know how to keep a woman warm on a frigid mountainside.

Penn never thought he’d struggle to keep his hands off a woman dressed like an abominable snow-woman, and after Cora finds him looking back at her in the same way, it feels like striking gold. When their search goes sideways, one of them must make a sacrifice. Cora is no stranger to taking risks, but no way will Penn let the woman go down without fighting like hell for her.

Trusting Skylar (Silverstone Book 1)

 by Susan Stoker

out on December 1st - Amazon

I love this author and the opportunity to get an early read is a privilege.
I'm really looking forward to discovering more about all the other characters in Silverstone Towing.
Bull and the team are more than truck drivers, their experiences with Delta has their services still in use. Mission Impossible music starts when I think of this team.
Bull and Skylar made a great couple, but can a relationship survive with secrets. When danger hits will both even survive to have their HEA.
I enjoyed Skylar's naivety and goodness, Bull's protectiveness and intensity, polar opposites they were great together.
Ms Stoker knows how to write sigh worthy heroes, I like to believe they're not all fictional.
Brilliant new series, I loved it.

From bestselling author Susan Stoker comes a sizzling new series about four former military operatives who rid the world of the worst of humanity while fighting to protect the best part of their lives: the women they love.

Former military operative Carson “Bull” Rhodes hasn’t dated seriously since he and his teammates left the army. Since then he’s opened Silverstone Towing—which is a front for his other job: hired killer. When kindergarten teacher Skylar Reid calls for help while stranded on the side of the interstate, the attraction is instant. The problem is Bull’s career has jaded him. Skylar’s innocent, and he wants to keep her that way.

Cautious by nature, Skylar never expected to fall in love with her tow truck driver. Even so, once Bull reveals what he really does for a living, she’s not sure she can handle it. When Skylar faces threats that have nothing to do with Bull’s job but are just as deadly, the stakes are higher than ever.

With the help of the Silverstone team, Bull will use everything he’s learned over the years to bring the woman he loves home—because the alternative is unthinkable.

Secret Santa Surprise: Book 29 in the Kindred Tales Series

 by Evangeline Anderson

Amazon Link

Another fun story with the Kindreds.
Melanie is a mature woman with a failed marriage behind her. What could these young twins see in her as she's feeling old and frumpy. Age and curves are not a barrier to the Kindred and they are hot for this 'elite'. She needs a Christmas miracle. Circumstances at the Christmas party throw them together, it's not all smooth sailing though.
Such an entertaining and delightful read, I really enjoyed it.

One lonely older woman...

Two younger warriors who think she's beautiful...

Add some spiked punch and a mix-up with the Secret Santa Gifts,

And who knows what might happen?

Melanie Jameson is afraid it’s going to be a lonely Christmas. After a bitter divorce with an abusive husband, she moves to the Kindred Mother Ship to take a job in their PR department. Though she makes friends easily, especially with Sees Clearly, a handsome Kindred warrior who is much too young for her, she doesn’t have anyone to spend Christmas with but her crusty old Aunt Marge.

Clear is smitten with Melanie the moment he sees her. It doesn’t matter to him that she’s older than him—he wants her at once. After a mishap with her Kindred wave oven leaves her with a burned hand, he brings her to meet his other half, Feels Strongly, who is a doctor in the Med Center. Strong agrees at once that the lovely older female is the one for them—but how to convince Melanie of that?

It seems hopeless since Clear and Strong don’t think Melanie is interested. But the Goddess works in mysterious ways. When a mix-up with the Secret Santa presents means Melanie gets a naughty negligee from Clear instead of the oven mitt he intended to give her, she begins to wonder if Christmas might be exciting after all...
Will she end up with a Secret Santa Surprise?
You’ll have to read to find out!

Alien Mercenary’s Bride (Lathar Mercenaries: Warborne Book 2)

 by Mina Carter

5 stars

An entertaining tale with great characters, I can see a future series here with plenty more stories.
Marika is a stowaway on a spaceship filled with so much more that she thought. Who or what are these huge men?
Plenty of action, kidnapping and drama kept me glued to my kindle. I loved their chemistry and the banter among them all. Great story, I loved it.

Stowing away on an alien ship? Idiotic. Stowing away on the Warborne's ship? Suicidal.

Marika Ingrassia is desperate. To escape another wedding arranged by her father, she runs. Between a homicidal groom and a ship full of trained killers, she'll take her chances with the mercenaries, thank you very much.

Only things don't go quite to plan. Her idea to force them to help her at gunpoint seemed a stroke of brilliance until she's on board and facing down the sexiest mercenary she'd ever seen. She can't think straight, never mind shoot straight. She's doomed for a long walk out of a short airlock until Mr. tall, muscled, and growly agrees to help her escape her father's clutches... by marrying her.
Just one problem. This time she wants the wedding to be for real...

She's the prettiest thing he's ever seen. And everything a killer like him doesn't deserve.

Skinny has been a mercenary most of his life. One of the legendary Warborne, he's killed more men than he's had hot dinners and he's damn good at it. When he finds a scared human female, he doesn't expect his reaction to her, or for her to clock him over the head with a pipe.

Unpleasantness aside, when he realizes she needs help, he's all ears. And everything else she needs. Up to and including his hand in marriage to protect her...

No plan survives first contact with the enemy. Between an assassination attempt and his past catching up with them... can Skinny convince Marika he's the alien for her, or will he lose her forever?

This story begins 4 years ago then we return to the present day. We see new police chiefs in some of the surrounding towns, their lives and possible romance.

For Hannah and Dylan was it too soon or bad timing? Circumstances had them go their separate ways before they barely started. Life moved on and they were thrown together during a case. A tense situation had them worried for the life of one of them. Would they survive?

Great story, wonderful town and it's characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

That’s the easy part.

Sing it, Sam

by Jennifer Ryder (showcasing an  Aussie Author and my fave book last year)

Amazon

For the last few years each January, I seem to stumble upon a book that leaves me thinking 'nothing else will top this for the year'. And once again it's an intro to an author I don't know and yet I feel I won't forget in a hurry.

About this book, yeah I'm still numb. 'The feels', the highs and lows, the laughter and the tears wrung from me. A small town, quirky characters and real life situations. I can't go on about this story without spoiling for you. I've been touched deeply by it and absolutely recommend you come on this journey with me and fall in love with Jane and Sam.

Jane Rhynehart has a cosy shack in the pumpkin-obsessed town of Willow Creek, and a new job—if only she was able to write like the other women in the local writers’ group. But how can Jane write the perfect romance when she’s never experienced love?
After a lengthy stay in hospital, budding singer and songwriter Sam Marshall ends up as a resident in Willow Creek Nursing Home. Jane soon becomes his guiding light. But how can he be a man for her when he relies on so many others day-to-day?

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

 by J.K. Rowling

Amazon

I can't believe it's been 23 years since this book came out. I know a lot of people read it including my son, but I wasn't interested. It took a reading funk for me to have a look and no, I've not watched the movies. I can see why this series has captured the imagination of children and adults alike, perhaps given them the love of reading. It's a brilliant beginning to a series filled with magic and wonder. Likeable characters and a world of mystery, what's not to love.
#libraryebook

Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms; a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H'.

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Gavin (The Mavericks Book 11)

by Dale Mayer

Out on November 17th

A 5 star enjoyable read

Another fantastic story with the Mavericks.
Gavin and Shane are investigating a kidnapping in Hawaii. Where are the parents and what is going on with the daughters. They're like chalk and cheese. There's something suspicious about one of them. Gavin admired the younger sister, her intelligence was impressive and she was determined to help find her parents.
Lot's of twists towards the end of this book, it certainly kept me glued to my kindle. Great story and wonderful characters that you'll love or love to hate. Brilliant, I loved it.

When four members of one family-owned corporation are kidnapped off the streets in Honolulu, Gavin’s intel says this is a corporate espionage case … but is it?

There’s not much to like about this case. Too many people are involved, … including an old friend of Gavin’s. But, as Gavin digs deeper into the motives of the suspect pool, events get uglier, and bodies start to fall.

Rosalina has no idea how she ended up in this nightmare, but all she cares about is her ailing parents who have been separated from her and her sister. Even when she and her sister are freed, Rosalina finds no sign of their mother or father. Trying to rescue them means deciphering friend from foe …

It comes down to the wire as this close family corporation falls apart, revealing the core of darkness inside, … and leaves Gavin and Rosalina struggling to stay safe as enemies work to take out them both.

The Safe Place: No phones. No outsiders. No escape.

 by Anna Downes

I admit I was struggling with the first few chapters as it skipped between scenarios and I couldn't get a handle on the story. My dilemma is to rate it 3 or 4. I'll go with 4 as I enjoyed the latter half of the book. It was all a bit odd, my imagination had bodies in the basement as the author wove this tale.

Grief and mental health created this strange story, some say predictable, but I had no idea until the clues started falling into place. The storyline was good for a debut and the characters intriguing. The cover drew me in and that the author lived in my country. I look forward to seeing what this author does next.

For struggling actress Emily Proudman, life in London is not working out as planned – in fact, it’s falling apart. So when she is offered a job living and working for a wealthy family on their luxurious property in coastal France, she jumps at the opportunity to start over.
The estate is picture-perfect, and its owners exude charisma and sophistication. But as Emily gets to know the family, their masks begin to slip, and what at first appears to be a dream come true turns out to be a prison from which none of them will ever escape – unless Emily can find a way to set them all free.
Superbly tense and oozing with atmosphere, The Safe Place combines the modern suspense of The Girl on the Train with the gothic
mind-games of Hitchcock’s Rebecca.

Matt (The Carter Brothers Book 1)

 by Susan Horsnell

I read this book for the first time last year before the rewrite. It was lovely to reread and see the growth of an author and how she polished this story up.
Still a lovely western romance set it simpler times. This story centres around a family and their ranch. Eldest son Matt and some of his family are returning from town and come across a badly, beaten girl.
This was ultimately a romance, but revenge and justice created a lot of drama. Who hurt Maddie, will she even wake up?
Maybe it's not so simple living in this time when communication and medicine are so primitive.
I'm looking forward to book 2 and the continuation of the brother's story.

A swoon worthy Cowboy romance is now on #Sale. For a limited time, you can grab Matt for .99c

Mistletoe in Paradise: A Christmas Novella (The Wildstone Series)

 by Jill Shalvis

preorder for Dec 1st  or the audio is out now

An entertaining second chance romance between life long friends, Hannah and James. As children they were friends, as teens it was more though they were both set on their own paths and too immature to compromise. The death of his brother caused major ripples in their friendship and set them apart. Her stepdad has traditionally taken the family on his boat and this Christmas these two will find themselves rediscovering each other. It's pr0bably too short but with Ms Shalvis's books I always want more anyway. A very well written and fun read, wonderful characters and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Problem Number One – Getting There

Old childhood friends each fly separately to join their families on what’s been an annual holiday themed yacht adventure. Secret ex-lovers, Hannah and James are determined to make the best of things…

Problem Number Two – Getting Stuck.

When everyone but Hannah and James gets held up in an airport snarl, it leaves them stuck together for four days, making Hannah’s already problematic trip a whole lot harder to face. Especially because she comes bearing more than just gifts…

Problem Number Three -- Falling In Love (again)

As the former lovers try to make the best of the Christmas snafu, they soon realize that the best things in life can’t be planned and sometimes love is sweeter the second time around.

Protecting Julie: SEAL of Protection, Book 6.5

 by Susan Stoker

Amazon

You may have worked out that I really like this author. I'm trying to catch up and fill the gaps of books I've not had time for. This is the last one for a while as I have ARC commitments to complete now.

This is a wonderful shorter novella:

When Julie had a role in a previous story I couldn't stand her, she was a witch. Bad circumstances bring out the worst in people and I'm so glad that the author gave us an insight into this character and the changes in her life. The Team's commander is our supporting character in this one, he's heard of her but meeting her was a whole different story. I loved their story, it wasn't long enough but none of them ever are when you just want more.

Julie Lytle is working hard to turn her life around. Being kidnapped by sex traffickers changed her drastically, but having grown up the spoiled daughter of a senator, Julie wishes she could’ve changed just a little sooner. Shamed by her behavior toward the woman rescued alongside her, and further embarrassed and guilt-racked over the way she treated the SEALs who risked their lives on her behalf, Julie is desperate to make amends.

With help from a D.C. acquaintance who’d endured her own harrowing experience, Julie connects with Patrick Hurt, Commander of the SEALs who’d saved her life. If she can prove she’s not the same person who mistreated his team, he’ll grant her request to meet them—but not before the protective, sexy man makes a surprising request of his own.

Protecting Jessyka (SEAL of Protection Book 6)

 by Susan Stoker

Amazon

Susan Stoker does love her damsels in distress. We've seen it in different ways throughout this series. This one was special. Kason 'Benny' is the last of this group to fall, and he didn't see it coming. Their regular waitress Jess has some obvious issues, she wore the marks physically and mentally of an abused woman. Jess is an independent woman and doesn't like asking for help...until it's almost too late. The SEALS swoop in and save the day, or do they?
Revenge will bring danger to this couple and the last chapters kept me glued. Loved every moment of this story.

Kason “Benny” Sawyer was the last single man on his Navy SEAL team. He loved his teammates like brothers and respected each and every one of their women. They’d all been through hell and they deserved their current happiness. But seeing the love between his friends and their women made it tough to be the odd man out all the time.

Jessyka Allen had a good life, until it wasn’t anymore. Finding herself in an impossible situation, with no noticeable way out, her job was an escape. Working at the small Bar and Grill put her in contact with some wonderful people, who Jess figured couldn’t ever understand what she was going through.

Being a SEAL, Benny thought he knew the true meaning of teamwork and friendship. But Jess would show him that everything he thought he knew about sacrifice, trust, and love, paled in comparison to what she brought into his world.

Protecting Cheyenne (SEAL of Protection Book 5)

 by Susan Stoker

Amazon

If you love corny, over the top heroes then you're in the right place... here with me loving every moment.
Cheyenne is a 911 operator, totally downtrodden and not believing she's worth anything thanks to her horrid family.
A situation has 'Dude' to the rescue...more than once. I really enjoyed their connection. Dude is intense, she's kinda skittish and yet still has a lot of spunk.
She's in danger throughout this story without even knowing it. This tense filled read as we wait for danger to strike kept me glued to my kindle
Once again all the other characters make an appearance and it's great to see how their lives are going.
Brilliant storyline and wonderful characters, another winner and I loved it.

Living in Southern California, Cheyenne was used to seeing hot military men as she went about her daily business. An anonymous encounter at the grocery store cemented her crush on one such man. He was big, built, and incredibly easy on the eyes, but it wasn't as if he would ever really notice her.

Always in control of any situation, Faulkner “Dude” Cooper knows explosives. As a bomb expert, he's lived through many high pressure situations. Disfigured by a bomb while on a mission, he's used to being looked at with pity. When he's called to a local supermarket to assist the local PD, the last thing he expects to find is a generous act of kindness performed by a beautiful, amazing woman. Enchanted by her selflessness in the face of danger and intrigued by her actions to save civilians she didn't know, Dude’s hooked.

Dude was able to save Cheyenne from the group of thugs trying to take her life, but when the past comes back to haunt them both, sometimes having the knowledge and the desire isn't enough to beat the countdown of the clock.

**Protecting Cheyenne is the 5th book in the SEAL of Protection Series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but it’s recommended you read the books in order to get maximum enjoyment out of the series.

Two short stories by Jordan Elizabeth

Dreadful Summer (Hayview Manor)

Another great short story by this author.
Annie is a great character, her family and home life made for an entertaining read.
Her friend goes missing, no way would she leave her child. Annie finds clues and is determined to solve the mystery. Could she get so caught up in finding out that she endangers her own life?
A very intriguing story, I loved it.

Annie Carmichael is excited for the summer. Bonfires, the lake, and peaceful days on the family farm are just what she needs before her hectic, senior year begins. Best of all, her family hires a hot new farm hand who seems more than a little interested in her. The calm is shattered when her sister's best friend, Nora, disappears, leaving behind her toddler son.The police are stumped, assuming the young woman simply left Cloverville. Annie's sister knows Nora would never abandon her child. Annie sets out to discover the truth - one she may not want to really know.

Clay House

This story alternates between the early 1900s and the present day. Evil is all around this house and land, changing the lives of all who live here. What is the creepy doll and what power does it hold.
I was fascinated and couldn't put it down, settled in until I had finished. Totally creepy in places but so interesting. Great story, I loved it.

When the land remembers evil, no one is safe.

When fifteen-year-old Tatiana Barrie and her family move to a small town in New York, the locals say their new home, known as Clay House, is haunted. The Barries should have believed them.

Soon Tatiana's little brother starts acting strange. He sees imaginary friends; he knows things he shouldn't. Tatiana's stepfather becomes abusive and erratic.

Between possessed dolls and an unknown evil taking over her family, Tatiana is terrified more every day.

She should be even more afraid.
