My Heart & Soul

My Heart & Soul: A Second Chance Sweet Romance Novel (Lyrics of Love Book 11) by Melody Sweet

I read this book when it was previously released. It was so enjoyable to read again. I read so much I'd forgotten the details.

Charlotte (Charlie) meets up with her old friend Nix (almost boyfriend) from high school. They parted suddenly 4 years ago and were both broken hearted. I kept saying for goodness sakes tell him why..tell him. But knew if she did, the story would be over. Charlie and Nix were opposites in personality but complimented each other so well. We know they are fated for each other, their dynamics were different while apart.

I was glued to my kindle reading this entertaining story. The story was beautiful and at times raw, I know I was teary at one point. The characters were believable and likeable and I still wanted more. Great ending for these two.

She left without a goodbye. He’s moved on with a new life. When they’re forced on a road trip together, can long-lost lovers rekindle what was broken years before?

Charlie:
I never thought I’d get to see Nixon again. But there he is. The love of my life.
I’ve never gotten over our magical summer together. The moment we took our relationship from friendship to romance.
But then I had to leave him.
I can never tell him why, and I wonder if he’ll ever forgive me.

That’s why we have to do this road trip together.
I have to make amends for disappearing on him.
I want to make him understand that I never meant to hurt him.
Being around him is the most natural thing in the world. My heart is blossoming again.
Could this be our second chance?

Nixon:
Charlie—the girl I fell in love with in high school. The one who broke my heart.
I should have said no to this road trip, but I couldn’t refuse her.
She’s color. She’s light. She’s happiness.

But I have a girlfriend. I’ve moved on with my life.
So why is my heart yearning for what I shouldn’t have?
She left me without a word! She’s a total flight risk.
But she’s awakening my heart again, and I can’t deny the fact I’m trapped in a safe, boring life I don’t really want.

Will letting go of what I have be worth the risk? Or will I get burned again by the girl who nearly ruined me?

Human trafficking, could there be an uglier crime? Delta Force are looking for the guy in charge to stop the kidnappings. Meanwhile an entertainer for the troops is in danger, someone wants her and is determined to take her. Dash is appointed to be her bodyguard and the chemistry is sizzling. He and the guys escort the crew to the next town when danger strikes again.
An exciting, action packed tale with plenty of loving. Great story, I loved it.

Ryan “Dash” Hayes has a penchant for breaking the rules. If it’s for the right reasons, and he doesn’t get caught, he won’t hesitate. To him, rules are guidelines to be used to keep the sheep in line, not him. But his commander is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because he’s good at his job as a Delta Force Operative. 5 star series

I can't believe we're at book #6 in this series, I've loved them all. Two newcomers to the island, chef and trainee. What's their story and where do they know each other from? We go back and forth from now to two years ago throughout this story. The present day is the wedding preparation and the latter is Angus and Cherry's back story. Can they see what's in front of them or will Angus hold onto his hurt? A wonderful group of characters in this magical place. Great story, I loved it.

Submitting to the Shadow: Kindred Tales 27

 by Evangeline Anderson

Amazon

A very entertaining 5 star read:

Another very entertaining and totally over the top installment in the Kindred World. Samantha has the danger of a stalker in her life and her only escape seems to be off planet. Roark has emotional baggage and not looking for love. These two working together have wonderful chemistry. He's so in denial until circumstances and danger change their lives.
I love this series, a total escape from reality.

Hot SEAL, Undercover Groom (SEALs in Paradise)

 by Maryann Jordan

Amazon

5 stars

This was such a fun story to read.
Kind of a second chance romance, this couple knew each other as kids and teens, then 12 years have gone by and they're adults. They're thrown together while on a mission for his sister. Faking a marriage to investigate the books didn't quite go to plan. Fate had something in store for their lives while they discover compromise. Established careers, homes far apart will either make or break this couple. You know Ms Jordan is going to throw a spanner into the works and cause some drama and action in this romance too. Great story, I loved it.

Confident in Chaps (Crossroads Book 2)

by Em Petrova

5 star fun read

This author never disappoints, I'm always entertained with her cowboys.
Kaoz is a good man but has a lesson to learn in keeping his woman. Helping her brother to make a success of his ranch he is also trying to win her back. I thought it was funny the reason she doesn't like eggs...that's me too, and I couldn't kill an animal for food either. Lots of light moments in this story and a lot of loving. A fun afternoon read for me.

Susan Stoker's Special Forces World

I had so much fun reading this series, 5 stars for all of them.

Lori Ryan, Nori’s Delta

This is part of the Operation Alpha World by Susan Stoker, one of my fave authors. This brotherhood of 5 warriors will fall one by one...in love that is.
Eleanor (Nori) finds herself almost kidnapped and her rescuer is none other than her high school sweetheart. Many years have gone by and both grown up and on their own paths. The spark is still there and he needs to keep her safe at all costs.
There is a mole in here somewhere and secrets told can mean life or death. Plenty of action, danger and drama. Great story and wonderful characters, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Becca Jameson, Destiny’s Delta

Book 2 in this series and my first by this author. Another exciting adventure with this Delta team, this time it's Trent (Zip) and Destiny. They've known each other since they were children, only she and his twin hooked up and planned marriage. Dying in action left her alone, he couldn't reconnect with her. Fast forward 12 years later to the current day and this story. Zip's life is in danger after a previous mission went not quite to plan. Should he tell her, honesty is a big thing in a relationship. Drama, action, danger and sparks will keep you glued to this story. Great characters and entertaining story, I loved it.

Lynne St James, Gwen’s Delta

I'm really enjoying this series and this is another first time author for me.
It's a great series and I'm loving all the characters in this team and their women. Gwen runs her family book store and in walks Luke. Sparks fly and next thing her gran insists they go for coffee.
His next mission entangles itself with her family, she had no clue about her parents lives.
Kidnapping, murder, terrorists and a bomb threat made for such an exciting tale. I enjoyed every minute.

Elle James, Ivy’s Delta

This author always keeps me entertained and glued to my kindle.
Duff seems like a grumpy bear, but he's not one for sharing his history. Left heart broken at the death of his bride he just copes with life. Thrill seeking not really caring if he lives or dies, just needs to not remember. Until Ivy falls into his arms...literally. They were thrown together again, it seems fated that they connect. The drama that soon unfolds, kidnapping and on the run for their lives will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Riley Edwards, Hope’s Delta

What a brilliant wrap up for this team. I enjoyed every aspect of this story, but especially the endings going forward up to 25 years later.
We saw the team come together on this one, in there most important mission...saving the lives of their kidnapped women.
Hope was a special character, her past so painful and her baggage weighing her down. She is one that deserved happiness.
The 5 authors collaborated so well with this series, combining and somewhat overlapping their stories, staying true to their characters and giving us a tease of each others'.
I too had a chuckle regarding Beau and Hope and their names, my secret indulgence while as a young mum was watching soaps.
Thank you Susan Stoker for creating this world and bringing in authors for me to both enjoy and discover.

Greyson (The K9 Files) by Dale Mayer

Another favourite series of mine

5 stars
I truly love this series, always some drama but at the same time heartwarming. This one takes us to Hawaii on the hunt for a missing K9, a retired war dog. The dog is on a mission of her own protecting a single mother and toddler from a stalker. It was inevitable once Greyson found them both that he would also be protective and caring leading to interest in her. The question is who is the stalker, what does he want and will Greyson or the K9 save the day? A thoroughly enjoyable story, great characters and entertaining story all round.

Danger and desire - free on Amazon for 2 weeks

Currently free for the next 2 weeks - 5 stars

Amazon

What a fantastic anthology this is, I've enjoyed all the stories immensely. It's also free so what are you waiting for.

I've discovered new to me authors and revisited some faves and their series.

Caitlyn O'Leary - her heroes are always swoon worthy. Lawson carried the grief of his brother's death, it affected his life and decisions. Jill's grief was over her cousin, almost a sister. Both meeting at a counselling group, coffee turned into so much more and sparks sizzled. I enjoyed the slow burn of their impending romance. When danger stalked her we watch Law go all macho and protective, this Marine Raider was deadly serious in his security measures for her. This was a wonderful story and had likeable characters, I'm ready to read more of this family.

Maryann Jordan - I love the Lighthouse Series. - Levi is headed across country to start his new job at Lighthouse security. A circumstance has him starting his role before he even arrives. Who is this woman and can she be trusted? We have sparks flying here, but he must find out if she is a criminal or a victim. Their story is short but sweet and I'm guessing we'll learn the growth of these characters in other stories in this series.

Elle James - another favourite of mine. A delta hero and a war correspondent, she is someone from his past. Can they have their second chance? Will they both even survive the war zone? Plenty of danger and drama in this one, I loved it.

Kimberly Kincaid - new to me author, just what I need more books on my TBR pile. lol

I enjoyed these characters, he's a cop and feels unworthy due to his past to see Tara. She's educated, an ADA and super smart. Sizzling moments will inevitably bring them together. A criminal is after her and they don't even realise. Will he be able to save her life? Intriguing story and I look forward to some full length novels by this author

Rachel Grant - Haven't read this author before, so I'm interested to see a full size novel. I enjoyed reading about the Alaskan area in which this was set. And of course the owls. This couple almost left their relationship too late, 3 years of what ifs, just wanted to smack him. I didn't really have a conclusion with this one, a few loose ends that I guess continue in this authors stories to come.

Cat Johnson - Not read this author before either. This one takes place in DC but the action is overseas. Seemed like a regular romance until one circumstance had me glued to my kindle.

Cristin Harber - Another new to me author. Secrets could make or break a relationship. She's no idea what on earth is going on. Who is this man she loves? I've not read this series so I felt like something was missing. Perhaps it would be better not read as a stand alone.

Janie Crouch - Haven't read this author before, not knowing her characters made no difference as the story unfolded with mainly the two main characters and their drama.
She's practically a recluse, hiding from the world after surviving a traumatic event. He's been secretly watching her, not in a bad way but keeping her safe. That is until he brings danger to her door. This was an exciting action packed story and it was fun watching their romance blossom.
